Roosevelt Elk

Roosevelt elk are the largest elk subspecies in North America. Native to the Pacific northwest, they almost went extinct until President Theodore Roosevelt established a protected area to conserve them. Queens Zoo is one of the few zoos in North America to exhibit these impressive elk.
